PASSIONE FLOORING EAST COAST MINI STOCK TOUR HEADS TO HALIFAX FOR SEASON FINALE

(DARTMOUTH, NS – September 23rd, 2021) – After a season full of exciting races, close finishes and schedule changes, the Passione Flooring & Interiors East Coast Mini Stock Tour races into Scotia Speedworld in Enfield, Nova Scotia, outside of Halifax, for their Season Finale. The 40-lap race presented by Skylark Security Solutions will crown a 2021 champion on the Series and marks the first and only trip to the 3/10-mile oval for the Four Cylinder touring series on the year. Racing begins on Saturday at 4pm.

After a thrilling end to the Pub’s Drive Thru Bottle Exchange 50 at Speedway 660, Dave Matthews (Kennetcook, NS) not only emerged with the feature win but also the championship point lead with one race to go in the season. Cody Byrne (Orwell Cove, PE), who had a front row seat to the late lap scramble between Matthews and Ryan McKnight (Sussex, NB), will enter Halifax 16 points behind Matthews in the championship chase. Matthews is the reigning Tour champion after winning it in 2019 and is the current local point leader in the Toursec Thunder division at Scotia Speedworld. Byrne, who has been working with a NASCAR Pinty’s Series team out of Ontario, will be giving Matthews all he can handle Saturday in what will be a duel you will not want to miss!

Marshall Bezanson (Oldham, NS) and Alex Landry (Antigonish, NS) will be in a battle of their own for third place in the standings on Saturday in the  Skylark Security Solutions 40. This is Bezanson’s home track and will look to bring his Dodge Neon to the front like he did earlier this year in a Toursec Lightning feature he was able to win. Landry, driving for JLS Autosports, will look to finish a roller coaster 2021 season on a high note with a podium point finish.

After missing out on the last point event, Jesse Deveau (Greenwood, NS) and the MacPhee brothers (Shay and JJ; both of Yarmouth, NS) will be looking to make up for lost time. Jesse and JJ won races last weekend at Scotia Speedworld and Lake Doucette Motor Speedway, respectively, and Shay has seen his seat time since their last event with the Series. All three have victories at Scotia Speedworld over the last 12 months in the Thunder class and will be threats to win on Saturday.

Several drivers are looking to make the trek across the Tantramar Marsh or the Northumberland Strait to compete with the Passione Flooring East Coast Mini Stock Tour on Saturday. In addition to the aforementioned McKnight, who came within a shade of winning the last round on the Series, Matt Watson and Gerald Gallant of Summerside, Prince Edward Island have Scotia Speedworld in their crosshairs.

With several Scotia Speedworld Thunder and Lightning drivers expected to compete on Saturday, the CannaConnect and Joes Racing Products Hometown Hero Award is sure to be a hotly contested prize. The Award goes to the top driver in the field that calls Scotia Speedworld their home track. The competitors in the Season Finale will also be able to compete for the Giles Auto World Pole Challenge and the EIT Race Radios Hard Charger Award for some extra prize money on the afternoon. RockAuto.com presents the Hard Luck Award – the award no driver wants to win but comes with the consolation of a gift certificate to Series sponsor RockAuto.com. As an added bonus, The Laker News will present heat races with the winners of each 10-lap qualifier receiving $100.

Tickets for the Atlantic Oliver Tire 200 (grandstand seating only) are on sale now at www.eventbrite.ca. Ticket are $30.00 for adults, youth 15 years and under are $10.00. Pit tickets will be available at the back gate on race day only, pit passes are $35.00.
